Hotel Shiv Niwas Overview
The Shiv Nivas Palace Hotel, Udaipur which was earlier used to serve as the official residence of Maharana Sri Bhagwat Singh. Later on it was converted into a Grand Heritage hotel. This Grand Heritage Hotel, a previous royal residence is a magnificent hemispherical shaped building situated on the southern end of the City Palace Complex.
The style and plan of this building is entirely European although it has preserved some of the idiosyncratic conventional Hindu elements seen in Udaipur. It is a beautiful amalgamation of Hindu tradition and European sophistication. . Shiv Niwas Palace has been rewarded the 'Heritage Award for Excellence' in 1997-98 and the National Tourism Award for the best heritage hotel in 'Heritage Grand' category 1998-99 and 2000-01 by the Department of Tourism, Government of India. The Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel provides fantastic views of Lake Pichola and the white city of Udaipur contiguous to it. The building of this hotel shows the eminence connected with Rajput architectural works.
