Hotel Lallgarh Palace Overview

The Lallgarh palace is an impressive red- sand stone palace and was constructed by Maharaja Ganga Singhji in the memory of his father, Maharaj Lall Singhj in 1902 A.D. This oriental fancy intended by Col. Sir Swinton Jacob, is completely mixture architecture and mixture of different elements of Rajput, Muslim and European styles and can be categorized as Indo- Saracen style. The Rajput external of Lallgarh Palace compares considerably with the occidental décor within. The intricately adroit carving on red stone is hallmark of great local craftsman. The Lallgargh Palace is located on the periphery of the Bikaner city and spread over a vast area of land. The imposing red sand stone Palace was built by Maharaja Ganga Singhji to commemorate the memory of his Rev. Father, Maharaja Sri Lall Singhji. Sir Swanton Jacob of international fame designed this Palace. Red sand stone and mortar, annulled by age, in forms that are neither distinctively Moghul in conception, nor completely indigenous in execution, but an outstanding blend of both. The material, Artists and Artisans were, of course local. It is among the purest form of Rajput Palaces with a fine blend of an oriental facade and an occidental interior. This Palace is entirely built of Red Sand Stone, which was quarried from the mines at Dulmera Village at a distance of 30 KM from Bikaner.
